
The county health department provides population-based services to all county residents in the area of communicable disease control (immunizations, TB testing, HIV counseling and testing, etc.); parent-child health (family planning, prenatal care, WIC program); and environmental health (food protection, safe drinking water, rabies control).
Vital statistics, such as birth and death certificates, population reports and disease reporting are also kept by this department. Referrals to other services in the community are made, as well as educational presentations for schools and the community. Quality assurance of ambulance service areas is also a responsibility of this department.
The health department has 14 permanent employees and three contracted ones.
The health department is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
